SAME-DAY CROWNS
Do you have a large cavity in your tooth or does a tooth need to be completely replaced? Then a Cerec crown or bridge offers the right solution. City Mondzorg in Eindhoven has been working with the CEREC system since 2006. It allows our dentists to create crowns and small bridges themselves, without the need for engaging a dental laboratory.
Would you like a new crown the same day? Thanks to CEREC, this is now an option.
The benefits of the CEREC system
The CEREC system consists of a camera, a scanner, 3D software and a computer-controlled milling instrument. Dentists therefore no longer need to outsource the manufacture of crowns and bridges. CEREC has even more benefits:
- There is no longer a need for dental impressions.
- Emergency crowns are no longer needed.
- Manufacture takes place in a day.
- It is also suitable for large fillings.
How long does the crown last?
Crowns are made of strong and durable material and therefore have a long lifespan of at least 10 to 15 years. It is important that the crown is properly maintained. The gums around the crown and the tendril of the crown are especially vulnerable places. A dental hygienist can advise you on this. Of course, a piece of the crown can always break off due to an accident. If this happens, please contact our practice.
A new tooth or molar in five phases
With the CEREC system, the dentist can manufacture a whole new tooth within a day, in five phases:
Phase 1: Your tooth or molar is ground. If there is a tooth or molar missing, the teeth or molars on both sides are ground instead.
Phase 2: The dentist makes a scan of the area in your mouth where the crown is to be placed.
Phase 3: A 3D image of your mouth appears on the computer. The dentist uses this information to make a beautiful, well-fitting crown.
Phase 4: The shape of the tooth or molar is determined and subsequently transmitted to the milling instrument. The dentist inserts a cube of the correct tooth colour into the device and the machine starts to mill. This takes about 20 minutes.
Phase 5: The crown is fitted into your mouth and secured.
How much does a same-day crown cost?
The price of a crown varies per treatment and depends on a number of factors, including the material and type of the crown. The treatment may also be (partially) reimbursed by your dental insurance. You will of course always receive an indication in advance of the costs of the treatment before placing your crown.
